Testimonials
An add-on, not a necklace
An add-on, not a necklace
This is a personalized dog name charm built to hang beside something else rather than to be worn on its own, and it does not come with a chain. It clips onto a chain you already have, or onto any of the breed pendants in dog lover gifts by breed - the face on one side of the clasp, the name on the other.
Three steps, and one real limit
Three steps, and one real limit
Pick a shape - paw, heart or circle. Pick a finish - high-shine gold or silver. Then add up to two engraved lines of eight characters each. That limit is the thing to check before you order, because it is the only part of this that cannot be adjusted afterwards. The pendants it clips to are in our pet jewelry.
What fits on eight characters
What fits on eight characters
Coco, Bella, Milo, Luna, Peanut, Biscuit and Waffles all fit on one line with room left. So do dates written as 04.12.19, and short lines like GOOD BOY or MY GIRL. Bartholomew, Clementine and Marshmallow do not. Two lines of eight is more than most competitors allow and it is still a limit - better to know now than at the engraver. Pair it with a breed pendant and the two lines carry the name.
What it is, and what it is not
What it is, and what it is not
Polished to a high-shine gold or silver finish. It is not sterling silver and not solid gold - and we do not state a base metal for this piece, because our own supplier data does not confirm one and we are not going to invent it. When it is confirmed, it will be printed here. The same caution applies across our jewelry.
Who it is actually for
Who it is actually for
It holds a name, a gotcha day, or a line you would not say out loud. It does not hold ashes, and it is not an urn - if that is what you came for, buy it from someone who makes them. For everyone else it is the quiet half of a gift, clipped beside a face like the Yorkie pendant or the steel Shepherd chain.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many characters can I engrave?
Two lines, eight characters each. Coco, Bella, Milo, Luna, Peanut, Biscuit and Waffles fit with room to spare, as do dates written 04.12.19. Bartholomew and Clementine do not. Most competing name charms allow less than this - seven to ten characters on a single line - but it is still a limit, and it is worth counting before you order.
Does it come with a chain?
No. It is an add-on. It clips onto a chain you already own or onto any of our breed pendants, which is how it is meant to be worn - the breed face and the name on the same chain. Competing name charms are often sold as complete necklaces, so it is a fair thing to check.
Is it sterling silver or solid gold?
Neither. It is finished in high-shine gold or silver. We do not publish a base metal for this piece because it is not confirmed in our own product data, and we would rather leave that blank than print a claim we cannot stand behind. Nothing in this line is sterling, solid gold or diamond.
Is this a memorial piece? Does it hold ashes?
No. It is a solid charm - engraved on the surface, with no compartment and nothing inside it. It holds no ashes and no fur. People do buy it to carry a name after losing a dog, and that is a kind way to use it, but if you need an urn or cremation jewelry this is not that and we would rather say so before you order.
Will the engraving wear off?
Engraving is cut into the surface, so it does not lift the way a printed marking would - but the shine on a plated finish does soften with wear, and that is what makes lettering harder to read over time. On after lotion and perfume, off before showering and swimming, wiped dry.
