Croc embossed, and what embossed actually means

Embossing is a pattern pressed into a material under heat and pressure. It is not a hide. Croc embossed heels take the scale texture of a crocodile and put it onto something else entirely, which is why the word embossed is doing so much work every time you see it on a shoe. Ours goes further than most: the material underneath is vegan PU, so there is no reptile and no animal anything in it.

A 2 inch block with nothing hidden under it

Two inches, and no concealed platform propping it up, so the number on this page is the pitch your foot actually sits at. A hidden platform makes a heel look taller than it walks, which means the height you were quoted is not the angle you get. A wide block spreads load across the whole heel instead of one point, and inside there is a cushioned footbed with arch support.

Six colors, a square toe, US 4 to 13

Red, Blue, Black, Brown, Yellow and Green, several of them on a contrasting heel block: blue over yellow, brown over black, green over black. That is a real color run for a textured pump, which usually arrives in black with nude if you are lucky. The toe is square, the shape this whole category has moved to. Sizes are US 4 to 13 in full and half sizes, listed in US women's sizing.

Vegan PU, and why it wipes clean

Not leather. Not crocodile. Not a platform. The upper is vegan PU with a croc emboss, and it cleans with a damp cloth, which is the practical advantage of the material over a textured hide that marks, absorbs and needs feeding. We name the material outright because leather feel is not a composition, and a listing that will not tell you what the upper is has usually told you anyway.

Standing in them all day

Wide base, low pitch, cushioned footbed, slip on with no break in, and the fit is confirmed true to size, so order your usual US number. Frequently Asked Questions

Is croc embossed real crocodile?

No. Embossed means the crocodile scale pattern was pressed into another material, so nothing reptile is involved. On ours the material underneath is vegan PU, not leather of any kind. The tell is the pattern itself: a real hide is irregular from one scale to the next, while an emboss repeats the same scale.

How high is the heel, and is there a platform?

Two inches, block shaped, and there is no platform underneath it. That matters more than it sounds. A hidden platform makes a heel look taller than it walks, so a stated height on a platform shoe is not the angle your foot ends up sitting at. Two inches here means two inches of pitch.

Do these run true to size?

Yes. The fit is confirmed true to size, so order the US women's size you normally take, and we list 4 to 13 in full and half sizes. There is no break in either. They are a slip on, so what they feel like in the first ten minutes is what they feel like in hour six.

Are block heels easier to walk in than stilettos?

Yes, and it is not only opinion. A block puts a much larger area on the ground, so your weight is spread rather than balanced on a point and your ankle does far less correcting. At 2 inches the pitch is gentle too, which walks differently from a 3 or 4 inch block, let alone a stiletto.

How do you clean croc embossed shoes?

A damp cloth, wiped along the grain, then dry. Because ours is vegan PU rather than a hide there is nothing to condition or feed, and nothing that stains the way suede does when a drink goes over. The texture holds a little dust in the scale lines, so wipe it rather than brush at it.

Which colors work for the office?

Black and Brown go straight into a work wardrobe, and the croc texture reads dressier than a flat finish does, so they carry a plain trouser or a pencil skirt without looking like going out shoes. Red, Yellow and Green are not trying to be office shoes, which is the point of having six.
